Project Title
A sensory feedback device to prevent falls in patients with peripheral neuropathy
Design Challenge
Neuropathy (reduced sensory input) is a prevalent issue for diabetics and the elderly. The resultant loss in feeling can make patients more susceptible to falls. This project proposes a wearable device that provides sensory feedback, in the form of vibration, that can supplement an individual's reduced input. By providing continuous feedback, these increased stimuli will serve to prevent falls, particularly in high-risk situations like stair climbing and terrain changes.
