Project Title
The Design and Optimization of a Robust Infant Weighing Scale
Design Challenge
While 75% of neonatal deaths in Malawi occur among low birth weight neonates, only 35% of hospitals actively use infant weighing scales to diagnose underweight neonates. Scales available are inaccurate due to baby movement, irreparable due to complicated inner mechanisms, prone to malfunctioning from dust, and are expensive.
