Design Challenge
As oil declines as an energy source worldwide, biomass has increasing potential as alternative energy. We are interested in designing a furfural and methyl-tetrahydrofuran-based biorefinery. Our focus is a three-step process to convert agricultural residues to furfural and, finally, MTHF.
