Project Title
Amtrak Train Station
Design Challenge
This project consists of the design of a new Amtrak and commuter train station at 1400 Fulton St., just north of downtown Houston. The 48 acre parcel is a city-designated "brownfield,” or a former industrial site in need of environmental remediation. The station is to provide twelve boarding tracks and several retail outlets totaling 25,000 square feet. It will be located directly adjacent to Houston's expanding light rail system and several bus routes, which will easily connect passengers to downtown and beyond. The project is to achieve LEED certification for energy efficient design and serve as an attractive gateway to the city for visitors and daily commuters alike.
