Minimalist Steel Electric Guitar
Design Challenge
Our design is an all-metal minimalist electric guitar which values practicality over traditional styles and mechanisms. Opting for steel instead of wood lets us eliminate material around the frets, reducing friction while playing. Steel is also much stiffer than wood and has a lower coefficient of thermal expansion, so our guitar will have much greater tuning stability than conventional guitars. Elimination of extraneous components and stylistic aspects makes our guitar very lightweight--about half the weight of conventional electric guitars.
