Project Title
Defibrillation assist tool for obese patients
Design Challenge
The Texas Heart Institute tasked us with developing an AED accessory device to help effectively defibrillate obese patients. The problem with the current situation concerns the significantly thicker fat layer of obese patients, since it acts as a resistor in the circuit created for the shock. Our device aims to compress the fat layer around the AED pads to better resemble a healthy fat tissue and allow for better defibrillation.
