Design Challenge
Houston Zoo Lion Feeder
-
The Houston zoo currently does not have an effective way to simulate the natural hunting regimen (chasing, stalking, leaping, etc.) of their Lions. Keepers have noted that due to their lack of stimulation, the Lions are displaying negative stereotypic behavior (e.g. pacing), which signals boredom. The Houston zoo keepers have tasked Crouching Tiger, Hidden Zip-line with designing a feeding system that provides hunting enrichment for the Malayan tigers and then re-purposing it for the Lion exhibit.
