Earthquake Resistant Model Skyscraper
Design Challenge
The 2018 EERI seismic design competition invites undergraduate teams to design a skyscraper which will be tested in Los Angeles, CA in June. This competition involves creating a resilient balsa wood model skyscraper, PowerPoint and poster presentations, structural analysis predictions of roof drift and acceleration for the simulated earthquake ground motions, and an economic breakdown of the expected annual building income of our design.

The EERI competition sponsors have historically included FEMA, Computers and Structures Inc., Degenkolb, Kinemetrics, California Earthquake Authority, Arup, and Tobolski Watkins Engineering Inc.
